“I am fascinated with water and reflections in the water.  Reflections add visual interest and complexity and the play with light and color adds life.   My early work, with small brush strokes and precision, elicits calmness and serenity.   As I have developed, I have tried to instill more movement into my works, using larger and looser brush strokes, more diagonals, more waves, and less precision. I attempt to inspire hope in my paintings.  Each painting is a miracle to me. The process of seeing my paintings unfold is exciting!   I start with an idea, but I’m not sure how it will develop.  The process is fun, invigorating, and challenging.  There is a sense of wonder with each completed painting.  I hope you will enjoy my work presented on this webpage.”

Kathy Lang Morris (Rushalk) was inspired by a teacher in 7th/8th grade to start painting.  In college, her interest in art eventually led her to complete an art history BA degree, including a variety of studio classes.

Professionally, she obtained her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology and enjoyed counseling and advocating for students for thirty years at the University of California Davis and the University of Minnesota Duluth.  When she retired, Kathy enjoyed painting in a “plein air” workshop one weekend in Duluth.  That weekend sparked a return to her art roots.  On moving to Naples, Kathy began to study painting seriously.  She has studied with Ann Sullivan from Cape Cod/Naples and Arturo Samaniego (Naples).  Kathy lives with her husband in Naples, FL.
